Thusday, Milikapiti (Snake Bay) Melville Island & return to Darwin

I was off to Malikapiti for the second time today.

The clinic days start early and end late.  The day flew, I saw several complex patients and once again had no time outside the clinic.  I yearn to walk through the communities and simply observe my surroundings.  Here are some images from the day.

Paintings are from the walls of the shelter at the airstrip at Pirlangimpi on Melville Isaland.

Darwin

Sunset from my Balcony
It is a amazing how a week can feel like a lifetime. I left Sydney one week ago today to head to the Northern Territory to begin my work in indigenous/remote health with the Royal Flying Doctors Service. I have finally said goodbye to the hospital system, YIPPEE! to begin my life as a GP.

In early December John will travel by road with Lucas and Isabelle on their own journey to join me.  What an adventure life can be!

In January we will be moving to our new hometown of Bellingen.  It is a semi-rural community with artistic flair in the North Coast region of NSW.

Parap Market

Nightcliffe Market
In the blogs to come...On Tuesday I will fly to Melville Island one of the Tiwi Islands to a community called Malikapiti (Snake Bay).  I will also travel to the more remote communities on Goulburn or Croker Island this week.
